Dear Friends of the Autism Cares Foundation
The Autism Cares Foundation had a record-breaking year in 2009, serving many more children and families than ever before. Total attendance exceeded expectations at all events, and suggests that our programs are truly appreciated and necessary within the Autism community. Every event was provided free-of-charge to all attendees, as we know that the cost of caring for a child with Autism can be substantial. The Autism Cares Foundation believes that cost should never be an obstacle when deciding whether or not a child should participate in these activities.
As we begin 2010, it is our goal to maintain the success of our current programs, and also to develop new programs that are geared towards teenagers and young adults. Also, we would like to build on our past successes by taking the first steps this year towards developing The Autism Cares Foundation Resource Center. The intent of this comprehensive facility would be to effectively address the many issues related to the development and caretaking of an individual with autism, as they reach various milestones in their lives. Our vision includes a resource awareness center, space for indoor and outdoor activities, areas for life and work skills development, a school, a respite center, continuing life care facilities, and other entities to assist as many families as possible through the puzzle that is autism.
To kick off our fund-raising efforts for these goals, we are hosting The 1st Annual Autism Cares Foundation Auction and Gala on May 15th, from 6:30-10:30pm, at the Spring Mill Manor in Ivyland, Pa. The evening will feature a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, a seated-served dinner, and dancing to music by local artist Bill Monaghan, all in a gala-type atmosphere. The fund-raising activities will include a "silent auction" during the cocktail hour, and a "live auction" during the dinner.
We plan to auction off several exciting items and experiences that are being donated to our cause by the many great supporters of the Autism Cares Foundation. Examples include:
- Vacation opportunities (Orlando and Myrtle Beach, to name a couple!)
- Tickets to exciting events (sports, concerts, theater, etc.)
- Fun and/or unique "group" experiences (dinner parties, golf outings, group 'classes', etc.)
- Unique items (jewelry, personalize art, gift baskets, etc.)
- Celebrity-related memorabilia
- and many more!
Tickets to this event will be $100 per person. If you (or someone you know) would like to attend the event, would you please send name/s (with mailing addresses) to me at jake@autismcaresfoundation.org, so that we can send you a formal invitation. We are also interested in selling full tables to corporate sponsors, or other organizations (tables are rounds of 8 to 10 people), so please keep this in mind if it would suit you as an option.
Please join me in taking the first step towards making the Autism Cares Foundation Resource Center a reality for the many families in our community who could benefit from it! As always, I welcome all suggestions, questions, and contributions.
Best regards,
Jake Treese
